New CCTV footage released of accused double murderer

<p>Chilling CCTV footage of Beau Lamarre-Condon has emerged in the moments before and after he allegedly killed Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.</p> <p>The video, obtained by <em>9News,</em> allegedly shows the senior constable entering and leaving a sports shop and buying surfboard bags on two separate occasions. </p> <p>Baird and Davies' <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/update-on-search-for-bodies-of-murdered-couple" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bodies were found</a> near Bungonia on Tuesday, where police allege that surfboard bags were used to transport the bodies.</p> <p>In the CCTV footage, the senior constable walked into a Miranda sports store with a friend, two days before the alleged double murder, and then walked out with a surfboard bag. </p> <p>In a second clip, about three hours after the alleged murder, Lamarre-Condon was filmed walking into the same store by himself and walking out with another surf bag. </p> <p>Another video showed a man in a black cap arriving in a black SUV on the morning the couple were allegedly killed, and got out of his vehicle parked just 25m from Baird’s home. </p> <p>The man then drives off at 9am - around 50 minutes before the pair were allegedly killed. </p> <p>Lamarre-Condon allegedly returned to he house the next day in a rented van reportedly used to move the bodies. </p> <p>The CCTV footage emerge just one day after police alleged that the senior constable used his <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/shocking-new-claims-on-alleged-double-murder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">police-issued gun at the couple</a>, and then replaced the bullets with ones stolen from a firing range. </p> <p>Lamarre-Condon handed himself into police last Friday and was later charged with two counts of murder.</p> <p>He is currently at Silverwater prison and is next due to face court on April 23.</p> <p><em>Images: 9NEWS</em></p>

David Walliams sues BGT over leaked rant

<p>David Walliams is suing <em>Britain's Got Talent</em> over a foul-mouth hot mic rant that was leaked. </p> <p>The former <em>BGT</em> judge is seeking significant damages after show bosses stunned viewers with the announcement he had quit the show in November 2022 after 10 years on the judging panel. </p> <p>The comedian abruptly left the show after a transcript of vile comments he made about contestants while his microphone was on during a filming break was made public. </p> <p>In the leaked transcript he called an elderly gentleman a “c***” three times, and said of another contestant, “She thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t”.</p> <p>The vulgar remarks were made during an auditions round at the London Palladium in January 2020, and were then leaked to the media. </p> <p>After the transcript was made public, Walliams issued a grovelling apology, while his legal team argued he had never intended for his remarks to be heard by contestants or the public.</p> <p>Despite his apology, Walliams resigned from the show two weeks later. </p> <p>Walliams, who is a hugely popular figure in the UK, filed legal proceedings at London’s High Court last week.</p> <p>The star is accusing Fremantle, the studio behind the ITV talent show, of a data protection breach over the leaked transcript which ultimately ended his decade-long judging career.</p> <p>In a statement issued before he quit, Walliams said, “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for <span id="U83896596806R9D"><em>Britain’s Got Talent</em> </span>in 2020."</p> <p>“These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Harrowing footage shows passengers clinging for life in falling cable car

<p dir="ltr">Harrowing new footage has shown the moment 12 people were forced to hold on for dear life inside a falling cable car in Pakistan. </p> <p dir="ltr">The video footage, captured by a <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-asia-66597447" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>BBC News</em></a> drone, shows the terrified passengers - six children and six adults - clinging on to parts of the cable car as they dangled stranded for 12 hours. </p> <p dir="ltr">The group were travelling to a school in the cable car when a cable broke halfway through their journey high above the remote Allai valley in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.</p> <p dir="ltr">They were more than 300 metres in the air when they became stranded. </p> <p dir="ltr">A daring rescue operation took more than 12 hours to complete, with the use of a military helicopter and several zip wire experts.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwS_rAiMksY/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A post shared by BBC News (@bbcnews)</a></p> </div> </blockquote> <p dir="ltr">The children were rescued first, with the adults the last to be plucked free.</p> <p dir="ltr">Some of the passengers told AFP that several times they lost hope in ever being rescued, and had considered leaping from the chairlift.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Some of the children were so frustrated and were considering to jump down, but the elder passengers gave us confidence,” 15-year-old Rizwan Ullah told AFP.</p> <p dir="ltr">“When the cable car was twisting, we were terrified and we started reciting the Koran and gave confidence to each other not to jump down.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Gul Faraz, a 25-year-old shopkeeper who was in the cable car, said they had started to lose hope that they would be rescued. </p> <p dir="ltr">“During the whole process we thought we would die. There were some times when we thought we would not survive,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">On Twitter, now known as X, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kak said he was “relieved” after the safe rescue.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Great team work by the military, rescue departments, district administration as well as the local people.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The owner of the cable car company in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was later arrested by police on multiple charges including negligence and endangering valuable lives.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: BBC News</em></p>

Prince William's enormous salary leaked

<p>Prince William's extraordinary salary has been revealed, with the Prince of Wales set to rake in an eight-figure sum for the last six months alone. </p> <p>According to the Duchy of Cornwall’s 2023 annual report, the 41-year-old royal received a private income of just under £6 million (A$11,434,000) this year. </p> <div id="story-primary"> <p>William became the Duke of Cornwall following the death of Queen Elizabeth and his father, Charles’ ascension to the throne, meaning he is now also entitled to any surplus of profits from the dukedom.</p> <p>In the financial year of 2022 to 2023, the Duchy recorded net profits of £24.048 million ($45,800,000), according to the report, which was up £1.02 million ($1,944,260) from £23.024 million ($43,886,000) from the year before.</p> <p>The Prince of Wales would usually be entitled to the full $45.8 million profit as his private income, but because he only became heir halfway through the financial year, he received a fraction of his income. </p> <p>The Palace also asked that as a “one-off associated with the change in Dukes of Cornwall”, the Duchy team retain a proportion of the surplus for “working capital purposes” – i.e. the day-to-day costs of running of the estate.</p> <p>William was therefore left with an income of £5.9 million, or about $11 million AUD for his work. </p> <p>In a foreword for the Duchy’s financial accounts, Prince William paid tribute to his father for leaving an “indelible mark” on the dukedom and promised to work hard to make a difference in his new position.</p> <p>“I am committed to the cause of tackling climate change and I am proud of the estate’s efforts to contribute to this challenge,” William wrote.</p> <p>“If we can also help respond to social challenges such as mental health and homelessness, I will feel my term as Duke has been worthwhile.”</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p> </div>

Disturbing footage of dingo attacks revealed

<p dir="ltr">Disturbing footage of dingo attacks have been released by rangers following multiple attacks in a popular camping spot that occurred just weeks apart.</p> <p dir="ltr">Tourists have been warned to be wary of the wild animals after shocking footage emerged of a tourist being nipped while sunbathing.</p> <p dir="ltr">The video comes just weeks before a 10-year-old boy was attacked and dragged underwater by a dingo at K’gari Island – formerly known as Fraser Island – on June 16.</p> <p dir="ltr">The boy sustained puncture wounds to his shoulder and bruises to his collarbone because of the accident, which happened in front of a popular camping spot on the island.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The boy’s 12-year-old-sister who was nearby reacted quickly and ran to assist him,” Assistant principal ranger Danielle Mansfield said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The family treated the boy for puncture wounds to his shoulder and arms and scratches and bruises on his collarbone and arm.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Mansfield also said that rangers were closely monitoring the dingo responsible for the attack, which had blood splatters across its face and paws following the attack, although there are currently no plans to euthanise it.</p> <p dir="ltr">Two months ago, a similar attack occurred where a primary school-aged girl was<a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/child-hospitalised-from-dingo-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> hospitalised following a dingo attack</a> while swimming. The girl suffered bites to her head and fingers after the dingo attempted to drag her underwater.</p> <p dir="ltr">Rangers have also released dashcam footage of another dingo chasing a young boy and an adult male, in an area close to where the 10-year-old boy was attacked, just two weeks before the unfortunate incident.</p> <p dir="ltr">The dingo was euthanised for “poor behaviour”.</p> <p dir="ltr">This comes a few weeks after another dingo was euthanised following a string of attacks, including a sunbathing tourist, a seven-year-old boy and a 42-year-old woman.</p> <p dir="ltr">Dingoes are native to K’gari Island, but a few of them fail to show any wariness towards people, and are increasingly brazen as a result of people deliberately or unintentionally feeding them, rangers said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We have increased patrols in the region to monitor the wongari’s (dingo’s) behaviour and pass on dingo-safe messaging to campers and visitors,” Mansfield said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“These animals are capable of inflicting serious harm, and they have bitten children and adults, and some are quite brazen and are not fleeing when yelled at or when someone brandishes a stick.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“People think it won’t happen to them, but it can happen to anyone and that’s why rangers are providing dingo-safe information to as many people as possible,” she added.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We don’t want any incidents on K’gari, and people must understand that dingoes are wild animals and should never be fed or interacted with.”</p> <p><em>Images: Queensland Department of Environment and Science / News.com.au</em></p>

How a driver proved his innocence after hitting young girl

<p>A driver who knocked over a child on a narrow Melbourne street has his dashboard camera to thank for proving he wasn’t speeding.</p> <p>On April 20, Muhammad Danish turned down a narrow street in Brunswick East in Melbourne when a young girl ran onto the road in front of him.</p> <p>Danish slammed on the brakes before coming to a stop and knocking the girl on the road.</p> <p>It was all captured on camera.</p> <p>The girl’s father then rushed over and slammed his fist on the bonnet of Danish’s car.</p> <p>Luckily, the girl was not seriously harmed but the situation has taken an emotional toll on Danish.</p> <p>He told <em>A Current Affair</em> he wished he could’ve done more.</p> <p>"It was very hard for me for three or four days. I couldn't do anything. It kept replaying in my mind and my mind was just simulating the situation 100 different ways," Danish said.</p> <p>He is relieved that the child was ok but said if he hadn’t captured it on camera, he may not have been able to prove his innocence.</p> <p>"This video evidence really saved my life because if police listened to the statements I could have been charged and (found) guilty," he said.</p> <p>The footage has been viewed hundreds and thousands of times online, with the majority of viewers offering their support to the driver.</p> <p>"Even police told me it's not my fault. I was thinking I could have done something better to not hurt that girl, but people's messages and comments really supported me," Danish said.</p> <p>Kidsafe Victoria’s Jason Chambers said the incident serves as a safety reminder to parents and guardians.</p> <p>"Supervision is a really important key in keeping children safe around roads, car parks and driveways," Chambers said.</p> <p>"For kids under five, that means an adult holding their hands at all times around these areas.</p> <p>"Transport-related incidents are one of the leading causes of death and injury in Australia.</p> <p>"In 2022 we saw there were four child pedestrians under eight who died and we usually see over 120 who are admitted to hospital."</p> <p>Image credit: A Current Affair</p>

Devastating leaked email places Jenny Craig on brink of collapse

<p dir="ltr">Weight loss firm Jenny Craig is reportedly closing its doors after four decades leading the industry. </p> <p dir="ltr">According to leaked staff communications, <em>NBC News</em> have shared that the company’s corporate and salaried field employees will face their final day of work on May 5, while their hourly staff will experience theirs on May 9. In the email, Jenny Craig explained that this was occurring “due to its inability to secure additional financing”. </p> <p dir="ltr">Employees were informed, however, that they would be receiving a “final pay cheque, including your full compensation earned through your last day of work and all accrued, unused paid time off”. </p> <p dir="ltr">Rumours have circled the company for some time, with <em>Bloomberg</em> reporting in just April 2023 that they were on the hunt for a buyer. The publication claimed that a source told them the company was “considering a bankruptcy filing” if their efforts to secure a buyer failed.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Bloomberg </em>also shared the news that the company was in around $250,000 USD in debt (~$376,000 AUD/NZD).</p> <p dir="ltr">Around the same time, corporate staff at the company’s California office received notice that they would be closing June 24, but that that day may actually be as soon as the next Friday. An FAQ was also released to them, alongside an explanation that they would be decreasing their physical operations to make way for their more e-commerce focussed business model. </p> <p dir="ltr">As a spokesperson told <em>NBC News</em> in the wake of the reports of potential layoffs, the company was “embarking on the next phase of our business to evolve with the changing landscape of today’s consumers. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Like many other companies, we’re currently transitioning from a brick-and-mortar retail business to a customer-friendly, e-commerce driven model. We will have more details to share in the coming weeks as our plans are solidified.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Despite this assurance, even coupled with the latest communications, it remains unclear whether or not that transition will still be taking place, with employees left in a state of limbo. </p> <p dir="ltr">The industry supergiant currently employs over 1,000 members of staff, with approximately 500 stores - both company-owned and franchised - across just the United States and Canada, with a further 600 around the rest of the world, including Australia. </p> <p dir="ltr">The company was actually founded in Melbourne in 1983, by husband and wife Jenny and Sidney Craig. The American couple went on to take their venture back to the states, but not until two years later in 1985. </p> <p dir="ltr">And while the situation looks dire overseas, an employee did tell Bloomberg that franchise-owned locations “may remain open”, though this is yet to be confirmed.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Images: Getty</em></p>

Huge broadcast blunder sees new footage of late Jock Zonfrillo mistakenly aired

<p>Footage from the delayed<em> Masterchef Australia</em> featuring late host Jock Zonfrillo was accidentally made available for streaming.</p> <p>Channel 10, the network behind the hit cooking competition series, had previously vowed to postpone the series in the wake of Zonfrillo’s death. In a statement shared on social media, they had written that they were “deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss”, and that “<em>MasterChef Australia</em> will not air” on its anticipated premiere week- nor any sooner than May 8.</p> <p>However, in a tragic broadcast blunder, 17 minutes of content made it online, showing Zonfrillo alongside his fellow judges - Melissa Leong and Andy Allen - as they welcomed special guest Jamie Oliver, and their contestants.</p> <p>Zonfrillo in particular had presented a former contestant - who had previously left the show in 2021 to prioritise his mental health - with an apron, before asking how he was doing. </p> <p>The clip was removed as fans and mourners drew attention to the mistake, but the damage had been done, and the upset was prevalent.</p> <p>As one insider told <em>The Daily Mail</em>, the future of the show was in the hands of the late chef’s wife, Lauren Fried, and family. </p> <p>“It will really come down to Jock’s family and what they feel he would have wanted,” they said, despite the network itself and the sponsors connected to the series reportedly believed to be onboard with proceeding with the new season. </p> <p>“Commercially, and in terms of timing, this is a disaster. “Stay awake!”: Incredible bodycam footage of Jeremy Renner rescue

<p><em><strong>WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT - VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.</strong></em></p> <p>It’s been three months since Jeremy Renner almost lost his life to a horrific <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/hollywood-actor-hospitalised-after-freak-snowplow-accident" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snow plough accident</a>, and new footage has surfaced from the incident.</p> <p>In a gut-wrenching video, medics can be seen desperately trying to save the Hawkeye actor after his 6,500kg Snowcat vehicle ran him over on New Years Day, 2023.</p> <p>Renner was left in critical condition with extensive injuries at the scene of the incident in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.</p> <p>The Marvel star was using his snow plough to clear a path out of his home following a massive snowstorm, according to the <em>New York Post</em>.</p> <p>The mighty storm saw over 35,000 people without power in the area.</p> <p>New police bodycam footage from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office showed the scene just moments after Renner’s devastating accident.</p> <p>The footage shows a team of five medics in a desperate attempt to save the star, who suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.</p> <p>“It was horrible. I thought he was going to die, man. I’m holding him and his colour is just going,” a person at the scene said.</p> <p>Renner’s accident occurred just moments after he stepped in to save his nephew, Alexander Fries, from the path of the snow plough.</p> <p>Police bodycam footage captured Fries explaining what had happened to his uncle.</p> <p>“He went up and turned around, got out to tell me something and then that’s when it started coming at me, like, full force,” he told officers.</p> <p>“That’s when he tried to jump back in there. Right where his blood is at, that’s right where it all happened.”</p> <p>“He tried to jump on it, into the thing, and it took him under,” he added.</p> <p>An emergency call from the incident was also released, which heard the actor’s neighbour telling emergency services that Renner had been “crushed” by the snow plough.</p> <p>On the call, the frazzled neighbour can be heard asking for the emergency crew’s time of arrival as he explained Renner’s “shallow” breaths were “getting shorter” and that the actor had started to “drift off” to sleep.</p> <p>Renner lost a significant amount of blood and underwent surgeries with round-the-clock care from medics after he was flown to Renown Regional Medical Centre in Reno, Nevada.</p> <p>His frantic neighbour, who happened to be a doctor, applied a tourniquet to Renner’s leg to stop the bleeding.</p> <p>Renner was released from hospital in January and has been recovering at home since then.</p> <p>The actor opened up about the chilling events for the first time in an <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/marvel-star-gives-chilling-first-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclusive interview</a> with US <em>ABC News</em> anchor Diana Sawyer.</p> <p>He shared that he refuses to be “haunted” by the harrowing accident.</p> <p>“I shifted the narrative of it being victimised or making a mistake or anything else,” he told Sawyer.</p> <p>“I refuse to be f**king haunted by that memory that way.”</p> <p>The actor also revealed the harrowing detail of him writing his “last words” to his family as he didn’t think he’d make it through.</p> <p>“I’m writing down notes on my phone. "No-one is above the law": Pauline Hanson weighs in on wild Lidia Thorpe CCTV footage

<p dir="ltr">Pauline Hanson has urged police to investigate the moment Greens senator Lidia Thorpe lost control outside a strip club in Melbourne last weekend.</p> <p dir="ltr">Senator Thorpe was captured on CCTV as she became embroiled in a verbally abusive argument with a stranger in the early hours of the morning as she filmed bystanders from the door of a taxi.</p> <p dir="ltr">The One Nation senator said she wants Victoria Police to investigate the matter to see if Senator Thorpe broke the law during her tirade.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I think Victoria police should be carefully examining that footage to determine if Senator Thorpe has broken the law,” Senator Hanson said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The Australian Human Rights Commission might also consider examining the footage for possible breaches of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act. <p>The Dalai Lama has apologised following the controversy surrounding him kissing a young Indian boy on the lips and asking him to “suck” his tongue.</p> <p>The exchange, which occurred at an event for India’s M3M Foundation in March 2023, has since gone viral on social media, with the spiritual leader’s office releasing a statement to address the situation.</p> <p>On behalf of the Dalai Lama, the statement reads he “wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused”.</p> <p>“His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras,” the statement said, also saying he “regrets” the interaction.</p> <p>The leader of Tibetan Buddhism, Tenzin Gyatso, was hosting students and members of the foundation at his temple in Dharamshala, India, where he lives in exile.</p> <p>In the footage, the boy is seen approaching the microphone before asking, “Can I hug you?”</p> <p>His Holiness then responds, “OK, come” and ushers the boy onto the stage.</p> <p>The 87-year-old then motions to his cheeks and tells the child “first here” and the boy gives him a hug and a kiss.</p> <p>He holds the boy’s arm and turns to him, saying “then I think fine here also”, pointing to his lips.</p> <p>The Dalai Lama proceeded to grab the boy’s chin and kiss him on the mouth as the audience laughed.</p> <p>“And suck my tongue,” he tells the boy, sticking out his tongue.</p> <p>The two press their foreheads together and the boy pokes out his tongue briefly before stepping away as the spiritual leader gives him a playful slap on the chest and laughs.</p> <p>He can then be seen offering the boy spiritual advice, telling him to “look [to] those good human beings who create peace, happiness” and not “not follow those human beings who always kill other people”.</p> <p>The clip sparked outrage in India, with some describing the footage as “creepy” and “disgusting”, while his supporters insisted he was just “joking around”, local media reports.</p> <p>The clip has also gained a lot of traction on Spanish-language social media.</p> <p>“This video is scandalous,” Colombian journalist Vicky Dávila shared on Twitter. “The Dalai Lama kisses a boy who approaches him on the mouth. The attendees applaud and laugh instead of condemning this aberration.”</p> <p>In March, the official Twitter account for the Central Tibetan Administration shared a snippet of the second half of the interaction.</p> <p><em>Tibet.net</em> wrote, “During his meeting with students and members of M3M Foundation at courtyard of Thekchen Choeling Tsuglakhang, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama advised a young Indian boy to look up to a good human being who always work for cultivating peace and happiness in the world,”</p> <p>The Dalai Lama made headlines back in 2019 following a sexism controversy after he said that if his successor were a woman, “she should be more attractive”.</p> <p>Following the sexism scandal, his office was forced to issue an apology, explaining that his “off-the-cuff remarks, which might be amusing in one cultural context, lose their humour in translation when brought into another”.</p> <p>In 2018 he made waves online after a remark he made on a trip to Sweden, suggesting that refugees should return to their homes and help rebuild their countries because “Europe belongs to Europeans.”</p> <p><em>Image credit: Twitter</em></p>

Emma Willis shares unseen footage of vow renewal

<p dir="ltr">On her 14th wedding anniversary to Bruce Willis, Emma Heming Willis decided to share unseen footage of the couple’s vow renewal in 2019.</p> <p dir="ltr">Emma took to Instagram to share the sweet video montage of the ceremony that took place in the Turks and Caicos Islands.</p> <p dir="ltr">“On our 10th wedding anniversary we decided to renew our vows in the same place we said ‘I do’ back in 2009. I’m so happy we did. Seize every opportunity to unite and celebrate with family and friends,” she captioned the video.</p> <p dir="ltr">The couple’s original officiant, Steve Eads, can be spotted marrying the couple again during the 2019 ceremony.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Those are the moments and beautiful pockets of memories that you get to hold on to for a lifetime. Hilarious footage emerges of Sam Neill's James Bond screen test

<p dir="ltr"><em>Jurassic Park</em> star Sam Neill appeared on the <em>Today</em> show to discuss his career and new memoir 'Did I Ever Tell You This?' but the hosts had other plans.</p> <p dir="ltr">Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo and Brooke Boney managed to dig up an old screen test that left the 75-year-old red-faced.</p> <p dir="ltr">"Oh, my God, no - That is so cruel to play that, so cruel," a flustered Neil said, as footage from his <em>James Bond</em> audition started rolling.</p> <p dir="ltr">In the video, a young Neill armed with a gun and donning an unbuttoned shirt bursts into a bedroom-to the surprise of a naked woman- and says the famous line "My friends called me Bond, James Bond".</p> <p dir="ltr">Neill said he was thankful that he didn’t get the part and that someone else was chosen to do the role.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I felt so awkward all day that we made that thing and it just went on and on and on," he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I am so relieved they offered it to someone else, they are welcome to it - you don't want to be the Bond that no-one likes, you know - that is a fate worse than death."</p> <p dir="ltr">Although he didn’t get the role of agent 007, the actor has starred in three of the J<em>urassic Park films, Event Horizon, The Dish and Peter Rabbit</em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">He also told the <em>Today </em>show hosts that he never intended on becoming a professional actor and his success was completely unexpected.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I never really imagined I would have a career in film, let alone a career as an actor," he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">"At the rather advanced age of 30 I suddenly realised I could make a living at what I loved best and I never looked back until I wrote (the memoir) and it has been good to look back - it has been really good for me."</p> <p><em>Image: Today Show, Channel 9</em></p>

Shocking footage exposes police officer attacking “defenceless” wheelchair user

<p dir="ltr">Shocking CCTV footage has captured the moment a police officer strikes at a wheelchair user in Shepparton, North Victoria. </p> <p dir="ltr">Kevin Scott was at home celebrating his 36th birthday on February 28, when the officer arrived in response to a noise complaint. </p> <p dir="ltr">In the footage, Scott can be seen wheeling towards the police officer and appeared to lightly kick the officer in the leg. </p> <p dir="ltr">In response, the officer strikes him in the head and is later seen shoving Scott backwards. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I couldn’t do nothing,” Scott recalled.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I seen him shut his fist and I wheeled back. Next minute he just hit me straight in the mouth, in the jaw. When I pointed at my camera, that’s when he walked off,” he said. </p> <p dir="ltr">Speaking to <em>7News</em>, Scott said that he was “defenceless” and that the attack was unprovoked. </p> <p dir="ltr">Kay Scott, his sister, has also spoken out on the incident and said that the attack was “shocking” and “disgusting”.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It would be different if my brother spat or tried to throw a punch or put up a fight with them but he never did,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He was in a wheelchair, defenceless. Rebel fighters share eerie footage of abducted Kiwi pilot

<p>Rebel fighters in Indonesia’s Papua region have released terrifying footage of Captain Philip Mehrtens, who they kidnapped last week. </p> <p>The New Zealand pilot touched down in Paro village on February 7th to pick up 15 construction workers who had been building a health centre in the remote Papua province.</p> <p>The rebel group set fire to the Susi Air plane and released all five passengers on board the flight, but held onto Mehrtens as a hostage. </p> <p>The group have said they will be holding Mehrtens until Indonesia recognises Papua’s independence.</p> <p>In a series of videos, released to The Associated Press, a man understood to be Mehrtens is surrounded by rebels holding rifles, spears, and bows and arrows. </p> <p>“Indonesia must recognise Papua is independent,” he says in one, seemingly under duress. </p> <p>“I took him hostage for Papua independence, not for food or drinks,” Rebel leader Egianus Kogoya says in another one of the videos. </p> <p>“He will be safe with me as long as Indonesia does not use its arms, either from the air or on the ground.”</p> <p>Indonesian officials are believed to be making efforts to secure the Kiwi pilot’s release.</p> <p>The West Papuan National Liberation Army (TPNPB), who are responsible for Mehrtens' abduction, has also issued a warning to Australia. </p> <p>“This pilot is a citizen of New Zealand,” a statement from Sebby Sambom, a spokesman for the TPNPB armed wing, said last week. </p> <p>“TPNPB considers New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, America, Europe, all are responsible. The US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand has supported the Indonesian government, trained The Indonesian National Police, supplied weapons to kill us West Papuans from 1963 to today. Stunning footage of rescued baby born during earthquake
